If you opened your own business, what would it be?

A fiber store!  Preferably, one with the ability to carry baked goods, coffee/tea, and adult beverages for post-work knitting/crocheting/fiber arts.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Fear of missing out is not a reason to miss out on other things life offers you.

Exceptional skills:

Silly answer: Figuring tip lickety-split in my head, and relating everything in life to a Spongebob episode.

Slightly more serious answer: I love working with people with cognitive deficits (like dementias), and have pretty extensive training in doing so.

When asked to describe yourself, whats the first word that pops into your mind?

Impatient, but only about very specific things.

Favorite book:

Jane Eyre

What makes your heart race?

Fighting for the things that I think constitute justice and goodness.

Organization or cause near to your heart:

Alzheimer's Association

What keeps you up at night?

Fear for the direction of the nation, and feeling unable to change it.

What is a belief you once held but no longer do?  I used to think I really closely ascribed to the American narrative of personal responsibility and pulling oneself up by the bootstraps.  I now feel very differently - not that one cannot be responsible for the things one does, but now I feel like I better understand that some don't have the bootstraps to pull themselves up.

What are you interested in connecting with other women about?

The social worker (my previous career, and probably a closer match for my personality than my current career) in me simply loves to listen to others' stories.  I would love to simply learn more about other women across career and life spectrums.
